Berooz Sarshar ist Iraner und war bis November 2002 für das FBI tätig. Er gilt als sehr glaubwürdig. Er wurde nach 1 1/2-jähriger Untersuchung gegen ihn, wo ihm vorgeworfen wurde er hätte mit Nicht-FBI Leuten über interne FBI Angelegenheiten gesprochen, in Rente geschickt.
In dem .pdf geht es bei dem verbliebenen Text um sein Ausscheiden aus dem FBI und es war der Commission anscheinend wichtig, dass Sarshar erwähnte, Direktor Mueller nichts von dem Kamikaze Piloten erzählt zu haben.

After leaving the FBI in 2002, Mr. Sarshar provided the same information to various Congressional offices and investigators, such as staffers for the Senate Judiciary Committee and Senator Patrick Leahy. The Justice Department’s Inspector General also interviewed him.
Thus, we were shocked to find that Mr. Sarshar’s relevant information was missing from the “System Was Blinking Red” section of the 2004 Final Report issued by the 9/11 Commission. Now, six and a half years past the publication of the Final Report, the transcript of Mr. Sarshar’s interview has been released with all of its substance redacted. In light of the fact that the majority of his information does not meet the standard for classification, which is to protect “sources and methods”, it is unclear as to why that information was blocked.

In February, Sarshar spent several hours answering questions in a secure conference room with staff members of the Sept. 11 commission. FBI Director Robert Mueller, who expected to be asked about the case during an appearance before the commission in April, was surprised when the commissioners never raised the question, according to aides.
Sarshar selbst glaubt nicht, dass durch die Information mit den Kamikaze Piloten das FBI auf die Spur der Attentäter gekomen wäre, aber er sieht sie als ein wichtiges Stück des Puzzels, das niemals vollständig zusammengesetzt wurde. Sarshar agrees that the information from the Asset, by itself, could not have led FBI agents to the Sept. 11 plotters, who by April of 2001 had taken up residence in Florida and New Jersey and were in the final planning stages for the attack.
But he sees it as a vital piece of a puzzle that was never fully assembled. A few months after Sept. 11, Sarshar sought out the Asset for a final conversation. The man was "very proud" of the information he provided to the FBI, Sarshar said. "But he was also very angry," Sarshar says, that the puzzle had not been completed in time.

Sibel Edmonds said she spent more than three hours in a closed session with the commission's investigators providing information that was circulating within the FBI in the spring and summer of 2001 suggesting that an attack using aircraft was just months away and the terrorists were in place. The Bush administration, meanwhile, has sought to silence her and has obtained a gagging order from a court by citing the rarely used "state secrets privilege".
She told The Independent yesterday: "I gave [the commission] details of specific investigation files, the specific dates, specific target information, specific managers in charge of the investigation. I gave them everything so that they could go back and follow up. This is not hearsay. These are things that are documented. These things can be established very easily."
Natürlich können die Aussagen von 2 ehemaligen FBI-Übersetzern die Behauptung der Bush-Regierung, die Terroranschläge wären nicht vorhersehbar gewesen, nicht entkräften. Tatsache ist aber, dass es genug Warnungen vorher gegeben hat.

In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI, and said Ashcroft has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term.

WASHINGTON, April 9— President Bush was told more than a month before the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, that supporters of Osama bin Laden planned an attack within the United States with explosives and wanted to hijack airplanes, a government official said Friday.
The warning came in a secret briefing that Mr. Bush received at his ranch in Crawford, Tex., on Aug. 6, 2001. A report by a joint Congressional committee last year alluded to a ''closely held intelligence report'' that month about the threat of an attack by Al Qaeda, and the official confirmed an account by The Associated Press on Friday saying that the report was in fact part of the president's briefing in Crawford.

ISRAELI intelligence officials say that they warned their counterparts in the United States last month that large-scale terrorist attacks on highly visible targets on the American mainland were imminent.
The attacks on the World Trade Centre's twin towers and the Pentagon were humiliating blows to the intelligence services, which failed to foresee them, and to the defence forces of the most powerful nation in the world, which failed to deflect them.
The Telegraph has learnt that two senior experts with Mossad, the Israeli military intelligence service, were sent to Washington in August to alert the CIA and FBI to the existence of a cell of as many of 200 terrorists said to be preparing a big operation.

However, there have been media reports that the NSA monitored some phone calls between KSM and Mohamed Atta in the summer of 2001 (see Summer 2001). Further, US intelligence monitored a call between KSM and Atta a day before 9/11 that was the final go-ahead for the attacks (see September 10, 2001). So presumably the I-49 squad should have known about these calls as well if this antenna did what it was designed to do.
